Great stuff here! I recently wrote about how book publishing is increasingly leaning into trendifying literature, which leads to jewels like this (and small publishers) constantly getting overlooked. There's also a good amount of pressure from outlets on freelance journalists to feature books only sold on XYZ e-commerce platform to drive affiliate sales. So, if that publisher doesn't sell to that platform, the book is SOL. And also, let's be real, sometimes editors haven't heard of some of these authors and therefore apply a bias to them, negating their relevancy in culture (sigh). Will be adding this to my TBR list for sure.

Luke is a treasure. Been reading Creatures, fully engrossed and now and then grossed out. But that's a good thing. As you say it feels very personal and immediate. It would be a good Book Club read.

And might I suggest another candidate, my international DIY conspiracy thriller told from the radical conspirators' bickering perspectives. Take a peek at Ch. 1: https://perfidy.press/turkey-shoot/chapter-1/

(Turkey Shoot received IPNE's 2018 Courage in Fiction Award)
