As someone who is grain-free (allergies), I rely on fries, will only go to restaurants who have them (or mighty fine roasted potatoes -- shout out to Little Dom's), need them for a night of imbibing. They are life! (I don't care that they are on the list of sh!t that will kill you...LIFE!) And if I found a wadded up ball of waxed paper in my order, there would be a little more than hell to pay. xo
Love this--particularly re bad service becoming the norm. I feel like so many people are afraid to ask for more, even when they're asking politely. There's a line between being expecting good service when you're paying for it and being an asshole, but I wouldn't exactly call it a fine line. More like a bold line. Why do people seem to struggle with finding it?
I went to Maison Yaki before a Nets game last time I was in New York.
Weird concept, but I was game. We go the tater tots(?) which were memorable b/c the potato was melty in the inside, and lightly fried on the outside. I liked them
had a similar experience at Olmsted last year. I don't remember what it was, but the wax paper trick was used in a little cup and the rest of the service was not good. Been burned one too many times by that spot.... it's a fool me twice situation.
Enjoyed this piece esp. as a suburban father of a toddler who lives vicariously via your restaurant antics and experiences.
Thanks! Hopefully the fries are good out there.

I'm very pro French Fry and found this interesting. I find myself longing for the No. 7 fries now.

Yeah. I think I'm done.
Was just discussing the shrink in an order of Five Guys fries since the beginning of this year. Anyone else notice this? 🙂
