I tried as hard as I could to remember what business or businesses were there where Magnolia now stands, but can't remember. In the late seventies the park was called Abingdon Square, with a run-down playground and a few hopelessly stressed mothers smoking cigarettes. Lots of funky businesses nearby, mostly swept away after AIDS came and decimated the neighborhood. If any urban archeologists of the Village remember that corner - please speak up.
